Based in Auckland or Wellington, Maunsell has a range of positions available for rail professionals in the following areas:
Engineering / CAD Technicians
Educated to NZCE or equivalent with +3 years experience in civil / structural engineering. Ability to produce detailed engineering scheme drawings from outline concepts and designs, with minimal supervision. Previous experience within the rail industry is preferred but not essential.
Track / Permanent Way Alignment Designer
Educated to degree level with +5 years demonstrable alignment design experience. Ability to produce concept and detailed track alignment designs (plain line and S&C) with a total understanding of rail geometrical design from ‘first principles’. Must be conversant in MX Rail / Inrail / Bentley Rail. Previous work experience within a ‘Narrow Gauge’ network is desirable.
Civil / Structural Designer
Educated to degree level, with +5 years demonstrable engineering design experience including drainage, retaining structures, bridges. Ability to produce design solutions and studies at all stages of development from scheme inception through to implementation. A detailed knowledge of the issues associated with constructability and safety within a live transportation corridor is a must. Professional / Chartered Engineer Status is preferred, previous work experience within the rail industry is desirable but not essential.
Structural Engineer (Buildings)
Educated to degree level, with +5 years demonstrable engineering design experience including railway stations and depots. Ability to produce design solutions and studies at all stages of development from scheme inception through to implementation. A detailed knowledge of the issues associated with constructability and safety within a live transportation corridor is a must. Professional / Chartered Engineer Status is preferred, previous work experience within the rail industry is desirable.
Formation Designer
Educated to degree level, with +10 years demonstrable railway formation design experience including slab track and heavy haul (new construction and rehabilitation). Ability to produce design solutions and studies at all stages of development from scheme inception through to implementation. A detailed knowledge of the issues associated with constructability and safety within a live transportation corridor is a must. Professional / Chartered Engineer Status is preferred, previous work experience within the rail industry is necessary.
Project Engineers / Managers
Educated to degree level, with +7 years demonstrable project / design management experience. Ability to lead teams and deliver a range of projects from inception through to completion, maintaining a ‘hands on’ approach at both a technical and management level. A detailed knowledge of ‘Railway Safety’ is a must. Professional / Chartered Engineer Status is preferred, previous work experience within the rail industry is necessary.
Intermediate Overhead Wiring Designers
Educated to degree level, with +5 years demonstrable overhead wiring design experience (25kV AC / 1500v DC). A detailed knowledge of ‘Basic and Allocation’ design is a must. Professional / Chartered Engineer Status is preferred, the nature of this work dictates that previous work experience within the rail industry is absolutely necessary.
